a book gradually evolving into a meditation
The book is presented as a walking meditation. The title For Going Out I Was Really Going In, is a derivative from a quote by John Muir on the existential benefits from walking. In a sense the book is designed as a walk. It takes the reader along, meandering through the gardens, stopping along the way to appreciate a particular view. The color panoramic photographs are printed full bleed in accordion fashion, enhancing the feeling of walking from one scene to the other. Garden's included in the book are Chantilly, Fontainebleau, St. Germaine, Sceaux, Tuileries, Vaux, and Versailles.
